ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

Minutes of Meeting

 January 28, 2000

A regular meeting of the Connecticut Law Revision Commission Electronic Communications Drafting Committee was held in Room 509A of the State Capitol Building in Hartford on Friday, January 28, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. Members present were: Wanda Dupuy; Marc Edrich; Representative Robert Farr; Elizabeth Gara; Gary W. Hawes; Dennis LaGanza; Houston Putnam Lowry; John Mengacci; Robert A. Mitchell; Representative Arthur J. O’Neill; Jo A. Roberts; Norman Roos; Jackie Perrie Scheib; Fillis Stober; and Chelsea Momah for Ernie Wright. Also present was David Biklen.

Ms Roberts opened the meeting and welcomed the members.

The members introduced themselves.

Ms Roberts distributed copies of the commentary to the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, which arrived too late to be included in the mailing for this meeting.

The members discussed the UETA and other issues pertinent to the project. Of particular concern was the impact of the act on consumers.

Ms Roberts will prepare a draft of the UETA that includes consumer revisions added to the act in California and Pennsylvania before those states adopted the act.

The members recommended that a representative from the Department of Consumer Protection be invited to join the committee.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting of the Electronic Communications Committee will be held on Tuesday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 509A of the State Capitol Building in Hartford.

Respectfully submitted,

/S/
