Security Technicians

The Connecticut State Capitol Police Department has civilian members of the department assigned to the position of Security Technicians. Security Technicians are assigned to strategic entry points on the State Capitol Campus. The Security Technicians have a background in law enforcement and private security. They assist in creating a safe environment for the legislators, staff, and citizens. Duties of Security Technicians include but are not limited to:

  • Greeting persons entering campus, garages, and buildings.
  • Communicating effectively and giving directions.
  • Monitoring persons directly and remotely.
  • Enforcing regulations.
  • Directing pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
  • Performing first-aid/AED medical response.
  • Utilizing radio equipment and phones.
  • Communicating with uniformed officers.
  • Operating metal detectors.
  • Conducting searches.
