Applications are now being accepted for the position of Certified Police Officer with the Connecticut State Capitol Police Department. Applicants must be CT Post Certified at the time of appointment and have two years of police experience to be considered. State Capitol Police Officers patrol a seventeen acre campus in Downtown Hartford that includes the State Capitol and Legislative Office Buildings, garages and supporting State offices. We work in partnership with the City of Hartford and State Police Departments. Applications will be accepted until July 30, 2021 to develop an eligibility list for certified officer openings. The State Capitol Police Department's testing process includes but is not limited to: Written Test ( must receive 70% to pass), Oral Board, Chief's Interview, Background Investigation,, Polygraph Examination, Psychological Examination, and Medical Examination with screening for illegal drugs. Hiring Security Technicians through September 30, 2021

The State Capitol Police Department is seeking applications for part-time openings (20 hours a week or less) for the security technician positions. An eligibility list will be developed and utilized also as future positions become available. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, a U.S. citizen, and possess a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in sworn law enforcement, corrections or military service. The hours vary by shift. The selection process will consist of a resume review, oral interviews, and a thorough background investigation. Applicants must possess a valid M.V. operator's license. The pay ranges from $19.58 -$27.00, depending on experience.
