REASONS FOR BILL:

The Butler Business School and Sawyer School closed leaving students without certificates to show for their completed classwork. This bill authorizes the Office of Higher Education to award certificates to students who completed instruction at Butler Business School and the Sawyer School.

SUBSTITUTE LANGUAGE:

The substitute language replaces the original contents of the bill and provides authorization to the Office of Higher Education to award certificates to students who complete their instruction at Butler Business School and Sawyer School.

RESPONSE FROM ADMINISTRATION/AGENCY:

Jane A. Ciarleglio, Executive Director, Office of Higher Education: testified and submitted written testimony in support of the substitute language. Ms. Ciarleglio has worked closely with the accrediting agency for the school to help students complete and receive their certificates so that they can sit for their programmatic exams
