OFA Fiscal Note

MINIMAL REVENUE IMPACT

A minimal General Fund revenue loss is anticipated with expanding an exemption for persons that practice medicine at no cost from a $565 physician license renewal fee, issued by the Department of Public Health.1 It is unknown how many such individuals in Connecticut practice medicine at no cost at local health departments, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Veterans Health Administrations, U.S. Coast Guard medical clinics, or for Doctors Without Borders. The projection of a minimal revenue General Fund loss assumes a small number of such individuals.

The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely for the purposes of information, summarization and explanation and does not represent the intent of the General Assembly or either chamber thereof for any purpose. In general, fiscal impacts are based upon a variety of informational sources, including the analyst's professional knowledge. Whenever applicable, agency data is consulted as part of the analysis, however final products do not necessarily reflect an assessment from any specific department.

1 This fee is renewed in the first birth month of the licensee immediately following licensure and annually thereafter.
