AN ACT CONCERNING THE SHARING OF INFORMATION BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION SERVICES AND THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AS RELATES TO MEDICAID FUNDED SERVICES
SUMMARY: This act allows, to the extent federal law permits, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DHMAS) commissioner to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the social services commissioner to share information about short-term acute care general hospital admissions and inpatient services received by DHMAS clients who (1) live and receive services in the community and (2) receive Medicaid benefits. The purpose of the MOU is to monitor and improve the quality of Medicaid-funded targeted case management (TCM) services DHMAS provides.
DMHAS provides TCM services to adults with chronic mental illness. These services are covered under the state Medicaid plan and help clients get medical and related care by (1) identifying needed services, (2) finding providers, and (3) monitoring and evaluating delivered services.
