Substitute Senate Bill No. 1262
Special Act No. 99-11
An Act Concerning Distribution of State Funding to Heritage Museums, Science Museums, Historical Societies and Other Cultural Heritage Preservation Entities.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. The Commissioner of Economic and Community Development shall coordinate the development of a plan for prioritizing the distribution of funding for heritage museums, science museums, historical societies and other cultural heritage preservation entities. On or before September 1, 1999, said commissioner shall convene a working group to develop such plan. Such group shall include representatives of the Connecticut Humanities Council, the Connecticut Historical Commission, the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, the Connecticut Museum Association, the Connecticut League of History Organizations, the Connecticut Tourism Council and the Connecticut Tourism Association. Such plan shall provide for a screening process in which a neutral entity shall make objective merit-based recommendations on an annual basis to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the Department of Economic and Community Development regarding projects which the entity deems most worthy of, or appropriate for, state funding. On or before February 1, 2000, the working group shall report to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the Department of Economic and Community Development regarding such plan.
Sec. 2. This act shall take effect from its passage.
