
Substitute Senate Bill No. 1256
An Act Concerning Surplus Amounts for Dental Plan Organizations.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 38a-580 of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof:
The amount of a general surplus that a dental plan organization shall be required to maintain shall be [two] seven hundred fifty thousand dollars or an amount equal to [thirty-three] two per cent of premiums written, whichever is greater. For the purposes of this section, general surplus may be comprised of cash [, surety bonds] and such other instruments which, to the satisfaction of the commissioner, adequately protect the plan's subscribers.
