HB 6329 (as amended by House “A” and “B”)*

AN ACT CONCERNING DISSECTION CHOICE.

SUMMARY:

This bill requires school districts to excuse any student from participating in, or observing, animal dissections as part of classroom instruction if the student's parent or guardian has requested such in writing. An excused student must complete an alternate assignment that the school district determines.

*House Amendment “A” requires the written request for excusal to be from a student's parent or guardian instead of the student.

*House Amendment “B” requires the alternate assignment for excused students.
