OLR Bill Analysis
AN ACT CONCERNING SENIOR SAFETY ZONES.
This bill prohibits anyone required to register as a sex offender from entering a senior center, elderly housing, or elderly congregate housing facility, except they may enter a housing or congregate facility to visit a relative living there or provide services required by their employment. They may enter the facility only at the discretion of (1) their probation or parole officer, if they are on probation or parole, or (2) the municipal police chief or resident state trooper in the municipality where the housing is located, if they are not on probation or parole. Also, they may enter a senior center to participate in activities not sponsored or organized by the center, including to vote in a municipal, state, or federal election.
The bill does not apply to sex offenders living in any of the facilities.
