OLR Bill Analysis
AN ACT CONCERNING THE NUMBER OF JUSTICES OF THE PEACE IN THE TOWN OF MERIDEN.
This bill increases, from 36 to 60, the number of justices of the peace in the town of Meriden. By law, except as provided by a special act, charter, or ordinance, the number of justices of the peace in most towns equals one-third the number of jurors to which the town is entitled. Meriden is one of four towns (Waterbury, Trumbull, and Litchfield are the others) for which the law explicitly prescribes the number of justices of the peace.
