AN ACT CONCERNING THE METHOD OF STATE REIMBURSEMENT TO NURSING HOMES.

SUMMARY:

This bill requires the Department of Social Services commissioner to study methods for setting Medicaid nursing home payment rates to determine the most efficient method of rate setting that will (1) save the state money, (2) provide nursing homes with stability in state reimbursement, and (3) incorporate costs based on patient care needs.

It requires the commissioner to submit a report with his findings and recommendations to the Human Services and Aging committees by March 1, 2010.

EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon passage
