AN ACT CONCERNING FALSE STATEMENTS TO CERTAIN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.

SUMMARY:

This bill makes it a class D felony for anyone to intentionally make a materially false statement to a criminal chief inspector, special inspector, or inspector, believing the statement to be untrue and intending it to mislead the inspector. Prosecutors may appoint inspectors to investigate criminal cases. By law, class D felonies are punishable by up to five years in prison, up to a $ 5,000 fine, or both.
