ADULTS UNDER PROBATION SUPERVISION
| ||
By: Daniel Duffy, Principal Analyst Michael Murphy, Principal Analyst
You asked for the number of adult probationers by town and for a map displaying the number as a percentage of a town's population.
ADULT PROBATIONERS
There were 56,215 adults under probation supervision in the community in Connecticut, as of May 1, 2008. There are 3,405,584 residents in Connecticut, according to the 2000 census. This means that almost 1. 7% of state residents are under probation supervision. There are probationers in every town. The number ranges from one (Canaan) to 5,294 (Bridgeport). The percentage ranges from 0. 1% (Canaan) to 3. 9% (Hartford).
Table 1 displays the number of probationers by town, the town population, and the percentage of town residents under adult probation. The information was supplied by the Judicial Department's Court Support Services Division from their Case Management Information System (CMIS). The data does not include the 3,461 probationers for whom electronic records of residence are unavailable due to dated (hard-copy only) files.
