Explanation

The amendment requires the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to study the impact of legalizing palliative marijuana in the states of: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. DPS must submit a report to the General Assembly on or before February 1, 2008. It is anticipated that the requirements will result in a significant to DPS associated with additional overtime, or the need to hire an outside consultant to assist with the study.
