Explanation
The amendment strikes the language in the underlying bill and eliminates the associated fiscal impact. The amendment requires a referendum on November 6, 2007 in conjunction with municipal elections, or by special election. Andover, Bethany, Bolton, Naugatuck, Union, and Woodbridge hold their municipal elections in May and would require a special election for the purpose of the referendum. The cost of the referendum will vary by town and is outlined in the table below. Costs include personnel, ballots for fifty percent of the population, and programming of the memory card for the tabulator.
