"AN ACT CONCERNING THE PALLIATIVE USE OF MARIJUANA. "
After the last section, add the following and renumber sections and internal references accordingly:
"Sec. 501. (Effective July 1, 2007) (a) The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services shall study the correlation between the use of marijuana and the development of schizophrenia. On or before February 1, 2008, the department shall report its findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to human services, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes.
(b) The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services shall commission a study to determine if there is an increased incidence in the diagnosis of schizophrenia in this state on and after October 1, 2007, as a result of the palliative use of marijuana under sections 1 to 9, inclusive, of this act. On or before February 1, 2012, the department shall report its findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to human services, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes. "
