AN ACT CONCERNING THE MEDICAL USE OF MARIJUANA.
AMENDMENT
LCO No.: 6514
File Copy No.: 403
Senate Calendar No.: 326
OFA Fiscal Note
The amendment strikes the bill and eliminates the associated fiscal impact.
Instead, the amendment increases criminal penalties for various drug-related crimes. It increases the mandatory minimum prison sentence for certain offenses by five years. These changes would result in significant costs to the state for incarceration and probation supervision. There are approximately 300 individuals incarcerated under the mandatory minimum statutes increased under the amendment. The annual cost to incarcerate someone is $35, 000.
The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely for the purposes of information, summarization and explanation and does not represent the intent of the General Assembly or either House thereof for any purpose.
