Subject: Tobacco and Health Trust Fund Board of Trustees 2013 Report

Speaker sign-up will begin at 8:30 AM in Room 2700. Public speakers will be registered on a first come, first served basis. Please submit 60 copies of written testimony to Committee staff at the time of sign-up. Testimony will be heard from state agency representatives first, followed by public speakers. Public speakers will be limited to 3 minutes of testimony.
Electronic testimony will be accepted either in Word or PDF format via email at appropriationtestimo@cga.ct.gov for posting on the Committees' websites and inclusion in the hearing transcript.

All public hearing testimony written & spoken is public information. As such, it will be made available on the CGA website and will be indexed by internet search engines.

Committee meetings will be held immediately following the public hearing to take action on the proposed recommendations.

Law Revision Commission Alimony Study Hearing
Wednesday, January 29, 2014, 10:00 AM, Room 1C

The Study Committee Regarding Alimony Statutes will hold a public hearing on Wednesday January 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Hearing Room 1C of the Legislative Office Building. The study committee was established by the Law Revision Commission pursuant to its charge under Section 5 of Public Act 13-213. The public hearing will conclude at 5:00 p.m. and the committee may recess the hearing for the purposes of a lunch break.

Pursuant to Section 5 of Public Act 13-213, the committee will hear testimony on matters concerning the fairness and adequacy of state statutes relating to the award of alimony in actions for dissolution of marriage, legal separation or annulment.

Sign-up for the hearing will begin at 8:30 a.m. Please submit 25 copies of testimony to staff at the time of sign-up and no later than one hour prior to the start of the hearing. Testimony submitted after the designated time may not be distributed until after the hearing.

The first hour of the hearing is reserved for Legislators, Constitutional Officers, State Agency Heads and Chief Elected Municipal Officials. Speaking order for the general public will be determined by a lottery system. Speakers arriving after the completion of the lottery will have their names placed at the end of the speaker list. Members of the public who testify at the hearing will be limited to three minutes of speaking time.

Please note: Testimony, both written and spoken, is public information and constitutes a public record that may be further disclosed upon request.

There will be an Informational Forum on Connecticut's Public Health System on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM in Room 1D of the Legislative Office Building. The forum is hosted by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, legislative and executive branch members serving as a team sponsored by the Aspen Institute's Excellence in Public Health Law Program.

According to C.G.S. 2-1e At the State Capitol and Legislative Office Building, possession, other than for law enforcement or official ceremonial purposes, of any firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, or billy club, switchblade, gravity knife, bludgeon, brass knuckles or any other dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument, or any explosive, incendiary or other dangerous device, is illegal and punishable by up to five years in prison and $5,000.

Per Joint Rule 30(c) No person shall use a cellular telephone or similar device (pager) in the Senate Chamber while the Senate is meeting, in the House Chamber while the House is meeting, or in any room or area while a committee is meeting or holding a public hearing. DEVICES MUST BE DEACTIVATED OR HAVE THE ALERT MODE SET TO SILENT.
